Ferry County Public Hospital District #1 has had many upgrades to allow
you as the customer to enjoy quicker, more responsive services at our
facility.
New information system network upgrades provide access to your needs
from anywhere in the facility, cutting down your wait time. We also have
a wireless network in all buildings, making it easier for providers to
access your records. This allows them to make correct diagnoses on the spot
instead of having to wait for charts or other obstacles that may have
made your wait inconvenient in the past. We have also updated our phone
system allowing our staff to utilize services that make easier
accommodations for their needs, which in turn helps you as the customer
when receiving services here.
Our new CT Scanner has been operational for several months. The state-of-the-art 16-slice scanner provides much more detail and post-processing options than our previous scanner. This allows our radiology department to provide better-quality images for diagnosis. We are pleased to offer this enhanced service.
In 2009, Ferry County Memorial Hospital updated and expanded part of the
laboratory to facilitate patient blood draws and staff office duties.
The hospital maintenance crew transformed a section of the old business
office into a dedicated draw room, with convenient access just past the
lobby. During the process, they also moved a wall to add a few feet onto
the end of the lab, providing a small office area for the staff. This
allowed all computer equipment to be moved from the lab equipment
counters, and freed up space to work. Also, the entire floor of the draw
room and lab were retiled, resulting in a sanitary and attractive
finish.
The remainder of the lab is slated for eventual remodeling. Planned
improvements include new countertops and paint, and refacing all
cabinets. These projects will also be done by the maintenance
department, for a substantial saving for the district, and will make the
work area both more sanitary and aesthetically pleasing.
The ER area will be seeing changes soon. The small exam room will be enlarged, with storage areas relocated in a more logical fashion. This will both make the exam room more usable, and provide more and better-organized storage of supplies.
Upgrades are also in the works for the kitchen. These will improve ease-of-use and safety for the staff. This project has been delayed by the urgency of other projects, but is still planned for later.
FCPHD now hosts a portable MRI unit twice monthly. The MRI van is here every other Wednesday, from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Please call the Radiology department at (509) 775-3333 to schedule an appointment.
